Understanding the electrical activities at the cellular and subcellular levels requires a technique that can map local electrical signals with both high spatial and temporal resolution. In their Communication on page 8855 ff., N. Tao et al. describe a plasmonics-based electrochemical impedance imaging approach for the visualization of the electrical activity in single cells. The technique has a temporal resolution of 10 μs, allowing the propagation of an electrical signal in a cell to be mapped
