摘要

Superlubricity has attracted overwhelming attention due to the ability to provide negligible friction between sliding solid surfaces. In article 1600531 by Yuhong Liu, Jianbin Luo, and co-workers, ultralow friction coefficient (μ < 0.01) can be easily obtained by a polyalkylene glycol (PAG) aqueous solution. During the sliding process, a hydrated layer is formed by hydrogen-bonded PAG chains to lower the shear strength between two solid surfaces. Meanwhile, the mixed free water molecules effectively weaken interactions among entangled polymer chains. This finding has a significant potential in industrial applications.
