摘要

A general approach to synthesize complex and highlevel systems from carbon nanotube (CNT) sponges and arrays is described by Z. Tang, A. Cao, X. Gui and co-workers on page 1248. A scalable synthesis technique is demonstrated for the production of a patterned spongearray parallel structure, with synergistic elastic response under compression. The parallel structure inherits a high plateau stress from the array and a large strain from the sponge, leading to a significantly broadened stress plateau and enhanced energy dissipation.
