摘要

On page 5137, X. Zhan and co-workers report a novel nonplanar star-shaped perylene diimide electron acceptor with a triphenylamine core (S(TPA-PDI)). The S(TPA-PDI) exhibits weak molecular aggregation, strong absorption in the visible region, and appropriate energy levels matched with low-bandgap polymer donors. Solution-processed fullerene-free organic solar cells based on S(TPA-PDI) show power conversion efficiencies as high as 3.32%.
