3D-Printed Carbon Aerogel Electrodes

In article number 2101325, Bin Zhou, Ai Du, and co-workers demonstrate a simple strategy to design the hierarchically porous 3D-printed carbon aerogel (CA) electrodes via combining direct ink writing, freezing drying, carbonization and polypyrrole (PPy) posttreatment. The improved wettability and contact conductivity of CA electrodes lead to an extremely high areal capacitance up to 8126 mF cm−2. This simple strategy may provide a novel insight to dramatically boost energy storage properties of supercapacitor electrodes and their functionalization.
