In article number 2211958, Xiangming He, Li Wang and co-workers review the mechanism of a typical salt additive in electrolyte, lithium difluorophosphate, for Li-ion batteries at extreme working conditions. With this additive as an exemplar, this perspective presents the potential of salt additives as robust interphase enablers to break their intrinsic limits, and release their full functionalities.
